Emergency Disaster (Feb.-Topic)

Team effort house against other house: Fill out 1-form per-house and submit to management the answers. The house with the most correct answers will be receiving Starbucks gift card for each staff. Currently posted at each house is instructions for handling a disaster: Everyone please review and blog on what could be added or removed and be mindful there is more than one type of disaster


1. What if there is fire

2. What if there is earthquake

3. What if there is power outage

4. What if flooding occurs


What should the house do and where should they go? Where should staff love ones go; are they welcome to come to homes for statewide disasters/natural disasters? Assume disaster is on going lasting from 24-72Hrs.

Questions: 1-4 have been nailed and Everyone has a clear understanding from the comments posted below. So the remaining folks FEB 25th until Feb. 29th.... Give feedback what to do for LONG TERM DISASTER 72hrs one example on any type of disaster. What would you do or recommend?

Fire : if you are in the facility w/ the clients , get them and put in a safe place . If you hear a smoke alarm or you that its going to be a fire tell everyone in the house try not to panic . Used escape route to get everyone out of the building as quickly as possible and dind somewhere safe near the building and wait for the fire service to arrived Earthquake: During earthquake stay calm, stay put donot run drop down , cover your head and hold on to something avoid objects that could fall stay away from windows, stay where tou are. As in any emergency situation, the main priority would be to ensure the safety of the clients. First, I would make sure all of the clients are accounted for. Second, depending on the disaster, I would assess if it’s appropriate/safe to leave or stay at the facility. Third, based on that assessment I would create a plan of action for the next 72 hrs. For example what materials will I take with me or what materials can I ration if remaining at the facility without resources. Everyone’s pretty much covered the exact same things to do in event of the four main concerns/disasters. I’m going to respond in a different way. In event of a disaster, things need to be readily available. Phones need to be accessible, emergency food and water if needed should be accessible, we should be trained on how to utilize emergency equipment with something other than a pamphlet. Personally, I know how to operate a fire extinguisher. Have I ever used one? No. Do I feel comfortable using one? Definitely not. First aid kits NEED to be filled and updated regularly with necessary items to treat wounds that may occur during one of these disasters. Bandaids are a difficult to find commodity,…

In the event of a long term disaster, one of the most important things is communication. If for example there was a disaster that cut off access to the outside, it would be important to contact emergency services and remain in contact throughout the duration of the disaster.
