In an Adult Residential Facility (ARF), medication administration means we centrally store medications, we give clients their medications to take when prescribed, we reorder their medications when necessary and we document when they refuse them. Medication assistance DOES NOT mean that we force clients to take their medications, we give them injections, or we put a pill in their mouth.
1) As part of the training this month, list at least six (6) Rights that are the most important to remember when assisting with self-administration of medication?
2) What is a PRN?

Right Person, Right Medication, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Route, Right Reason, and Right Documentation.
What is a PRN: A PRN medication are drugs that are only taken as needed. Clients typically don’t need to take them every day.
1.- The right patient, medication, dose, time, route and documentation.
2.- The administration of medication is not scheduled. Instead, the prescription is taken as needed.
Medication Training: six rights that are important to remember when handling medications is: 1) the right person, 2) the right medication, 3) the right dosage, 4) the right time, 5) the right route, and 6) the right documentation.
PRN stands for any non-prescription or prescription medication which is to be taken as necessary.

And PRN is medication the provide to the client as needed.

PRN means “as the thing is needed.” This means you may not take a certain medicine at a specific time but rather take it when you need it. Typically when given medication, you are instructed to take a specific dose and at certain times of the day.
