Client Right #5: "A right to religious freedom and practice."
Food Training: All of us need food to keep us alive and healthy. However, food can also make us sick if it is not prepared and/or served properly. As a direct care professional it is important to make sure people don't get sick from the foods and drinks you prepare and serve them. Hands that are not thoroughly washed are one of the main reasons why people get sick from the food they eat. This can be prevented by washing your hands often!
Please describe in the blog section the proper hand washing steps before handling or serving food.
Also, what are some ways to prepare foods so it is protected from contamination?

1) Use warm water and soap, scrub your hands and forearms for at least 20 seconds scrubbing between your fingers and fingernails, rinse your hands in warm running water, dry your hands with a single-use towel.
2) Wash your hands before you begin working and whenever they might be contaminated. Do not wear jewelry on hands and arms. Avoid touching food with bare hands. If you are sick with diarrhea or vomiting, fever or stomach cramps, do not work with food or utensils. Restrain your hair and keep clean clothes. Use clean wiping rags.

- Clean surfaces and utensils. Wash cutting boards, knives, countertops.
- Always separate raw foods from cooked foods.
- Cooking food to the appropriate temperature kills.
- Store food properly.

Food Safety:
As a STAFF you need to wash your hands before handling and After (Happy Birthday song), you don't want to make anyone sick,make sure it is prepare and package in the right containers and temperature.
Somes ways to prepare food so it is protected from contamination:
> wash your hands
> wash worktops
> wash dishcloths
> use seperate chopping board
> keep raw meat seperate
> store raw meat in the bottom shelf
> cook food thoroughly
Correct ways of storing food to keep it from Being contaminated:
> Put food in the refrigerator in closed container or covered with plastic wrap to reduce the risk of cross contamination .Used clean utensils, plates, or container to prevent contaminating cooked food or food that will be eaten raw, use clean equipment rather than hands to pickup food
Wet Your Hands First
You can use either cold or warm running water. A sink filled with standing water could be contaminated from a previous use.
Step 1: Use soap.
Don't scrimp on it; apply enough of it to cover all surfaces of your hands.
Step 2: Rub palms together.
Create a lather by rubbing your palms together.
Step 3: Put your right palm over the back of your left hand.
Interlace your fingers and rub your hands back forth to get the soap on the back of your hand and in between fingers, then repeat with your left palm over your right hand.
Step 4: Rub palms together with interlaced fingers.
