Client Right #5: "A right to religious freedom and practice."


Food Training: All of us need food to keep us alive and healthy. However, food can also make us sick if it is not prepared and/or served properly. As a direct care professional it is important to make sure people don't get sick from the foods and drinks you prepare and serve them. Hands that are not thoroughly washed are one of the main reasons why people get sick from the food they eat. This can be prevented by washing your hands often!

Use warm water and soap from a dispenser not soap bar.

Scrub your hands and forearms for at least 10-15 seconds about as long as it takes to sing Happy birthday twice

Rinse your hands in warm, running water.

Dry your hands with a single-use towel or air dry.


Store cooked and ready to eat food above raw foods in the fridge.

Keep food cover

Don't stack uncoverd foods on top of each other.

Never add sulfites to fresh fruits and vegetables or to potentially hazardous foods like meat, fish,poultry or dairy products.

Then you can start preparing and serving clients meals after that you clean and maintain area where you are making food clean. Always remember to not mix raw foods from cooked foods always make sure you food is fully cooked after that store food in containers and put it away.
