Please discuss/write below how we can provide a safe environment for each individual to ensure proper care and support is being given.

Diabetes is the condition in which the body does not properly process blood sugar.

1) Briefly describe the instructions for using glucose meters.

2) Name one thing that can help with managing diabetes.

Proper steps for using a glucose meter are:

-Wash your hands with soap and warm water and dry completely or clean the area with alcohol and dry completely.

-Prick the fingertip with a lancet.

-Hold the hand down and hold the finger until a small drop of blood appears; catch the blood with the test strip.

-Follow the instructions for inserting the test strip and using the SMBG meter.

-Record the test result. Normal range is 70-140

When helping a client to manage his/her diabetes it may be beneficial to have certain exercise requirements for them to follow and also making sure their meals and snacks are healthy. Also making sure they are not consuming too many soft drinks, etc.

Continuous glucose monitoring is key to managing your diabetes care and help you more quickly address when your body is high or low. Follow your plan set with your doctor, even when you're feeling good. You might be tempted to skip it. But you probably feel good because your plan is working.
